Meet Esiah Campos

Hello, my name is Esiah Campos. I am a United States Navy Veteran who served alongside our Navy Medical Corps Officers to provide the best medical care to our service members and civilians alike. I am also a Lake County Board member and a lifelong resident of Round Lake Beach. My family proudly calls Lake County – HOME.

I come from a long line of military and Teamster members. I know what it means to sacrifice for others, whether by wearing the uniform or standing on the picket line. As a child, I remember stuffing envelopes and boxes for union campaigns to improve working conditions and fight for a fair living wage.

When I was barely old enough to drive, I jumped on a bus with other union members to show solidarity in Washington, D.C., for DREAMERS and E-VERIFY. Later, as a young adult, I helped efforts to organize workers in the trucking industry who were being abused, subjected to wage theft, and exposed to unfair working conditions by their employers.

After serving in the military, I returned home to continue serving locally. Our people-powered campaign made history when I became the youngest person and the first Latino ever elected to the County Board, representing the same neighborhoods that shaped me. My leadership is rooted in lived experience—understanding firsthand what working families need because I come from a working-class, union household.

On the County Board, I have worked to deliver real results, including critical infrastructure improvements that strengthen neighborhoods, create good jobs, and invest in the future. As a union member from a union family, I have made it my life’s mission to champion working families, workers’ rights, and policies that ensure everyone has a fair shot at success.
